Do you need to remove the 'try me now' button and the battery pack?

As the title says, do you need to remove the try me now button and the black box that conceals the batteries? Im wiring them up to a switch and powering them via the wiring behind the dash
Yes you do need to remove the 'try me now' button. I have wired mine into the radio unit, the live comes from the cable between the ignition and the radio and then the earth goes to one of the 2 earth cables coming out of the radio.

can i cut the cig lighter of?

if i cut the cig lighter of and get a live and earth somewhere else wiil they still work or does the cig ligher start the neon up?
If you know what your doing its fairly easy to wire up, I have a 2006 focus and have these lights in my footwells, they have been wired into the ignition wire that goes into the back of the radio so that when the ignition is on the lights are on, then have a switch on the dash to switch them off if i dont need them on.
