The Halfords Classic Oil 20W50 5 litre bottle specially blended for classic cars from 60's - 80's

Is this oil suitable for classic (1970) diesel engines

I have a BMC 1.5 diesel engine, and whilst the oil meets the specification I need, and its other qualities are an ideal match. The web site state it is suitable for petrol engines.

Is is also suitable for diesel engines?
Probably not - very modern cars now seem to have converged and diesel and petrol can share the same oil. This was never the case until recently and certainly not in 1970.

Castrol Edge 0W30 Oil 4 Litre for Vauxhall, BMW, Mercedes and most other modern engines.

What is recommended for BMW 3 series 05 plate

Hi, I have a BMW 325i 05 plate and I have been using the Castrol SLX Professional Powerflow 0W 30. I've recently bought a litre bottle from main BMW dealer. I now have about a quater left in my car. Could you please advise whether I can add/mix the EDGE 0W30 with the SLX? Can I also mix the SLX 0W30 with the EDGE 5W30 because your website is recommending this product to me? Thanks
You need to confirm with your BMW dealer, but 0W30 and 5W30 are both allowable in some current BMW engines, but I would not know about 05 engines - BMW advise you can use up to 1litres of oil which is different to the original for top up. Check your manual. It is extremely important to use the right oil for the main drain/refill. Never assume anything and to be honest, don't accept the advice here or any other internet opinion - the wrong oil can wreck a modern engine quickly. If the dealer is less than helpful, phone another or BMW UK.
