I was given one of these when i started working for Halfords 15 months ago and am still using that very same one today. I have been a cycle mechanic working full time at two separate stores and this multitool has never let me down. I have literally used it for 5 out of 7 days every week for those past 15 months and it is still going strong. You can practically take apart a bike with the 8 different tools you get.
Excellent value for money and a must have for anyone who owns a bike whether you want to do your own maintenance or just move your seat post up.
I very highly recommend this product
I like:durable, great choice of tools, great value for money
I recommend this product!

Most likely a Large, however your best option is to go down to your local Halfords store where they will be able to 'size you up'. It is essential to try before you buy especially when spending a large amount on a bike.

Carrera Zelos Limited Edition Road Bike 2013 Large
The Carrera Zelos Limited Edition Road Bike 2013 Large offers a lightweight aluminium frame with 14 speed Shimano gears along with STI shifters, double walled aluminium rims and Tektro dual pivot brakes.

size - I am 6 foot in height, will a large frame be big enough?

Top 10 Contributor
Top 10 Contributor
Yes most likely, however height is not the only factor when deciding the correct size bike. To be sure, go down to your local Halfords store and speak to a member of staff who will 'size you up' by asking you to try different size bikes, and will suggest the best size for you.

will this bike be set up correctly before delivery if ordered online

Top 10 Contributor
Top 10 Contributor
No. The bike will arrive boxed with some assembly required if you order it online and get it delivered to your home. However if you ask for it to be delivered to a particular store, you will have the option of having it built up and getting a 22 point safety check, which is highly recommended.

Carrera Crossfire 2 Hybrid Bike works wonders for tarmac commutes and light trail riding alike.

Are there any tools/manual included in the price?

Bikes used to come with a couple of tools, e.g. to do quick repairs like a flat tire. Is that still happening with this particular brand and model?
Top 10 Contributor
Top 10 Contributor
The bike will come with an Onwers Manual, along with component specific documentation i.e. the forks, gears shifters.

Unfortunately bikes do not come with tools nowadays, they must be bought on top of the price of the bike. However if you ask your local store staff nicely, they may be able to supply you with a 'Boxed Bike Toolkit' which has a multispanner and a few allen keys for adjustments. This kit is usually only supplied with boxed bikes but are often given out with built bikes on request.

The Carrera Vulcan Mountain Bike is great for taking on the most challenging terrain.

What is the length of the bike so I know for storage and is the front wheel fast release

Top 10 Contributor
Top 10 Contributor
Yes, both the front and rear wheels use a standard Quick Release skewer.

The length of the bike is dependent on the frame size. For exact measurements, go down to your local Halfords store and ask a member of staff on the Bikehut who would gladly measure the bike for you.

Suspension forks

what suspension forks would you recommend to go with this bike?

I certainly would not advise putting suspension forks onto this bike as the frame is not designed for them. If the type of riding you are doing with the bike is requiring front suspension, you should look into purchasing a mountain bike as they are fully capable/designed for off road riding.

 Trax TFS.24 Boys Mountain Bike - 24"
Trax TFS.24 Boys Mountain Bike - 24"
The Trax TFS.24 Boys Mountain Bike has 18 speed Shimano gearing for easier riding and full suspension for for greater control.

Thread has completely gone on crank arm, pedal won't stay on.

Right hand pedal came loose so I tried to tighten it up when I noticed that the crank arm was almost completely threaded so the pedal can't be screwed back in.

I'm completely green when it comes to bike maintenance, so what will be required to sort this out.

Bit disappointed as the bike was only bought at Christmas.

The pedal arm will most likely need 're-tapping' via the use of a Pedal Tap. Your local Halfords store should have this tool and will hopefully be able to re-tap the arm and reattach the pedal. If there is no 'material' to be re-tapped, the bike will require a new Crankset which may or may not be covered under the warranty. Contact your local store and show them the bike, they will make the final decision.

My son finds it extremely difficult to change down gears on his new Trax mountain bike. Is it possible to adjust this so it's easier?

This is a brand new Trax bike. He's a strong 9 yr old.

Changing up (e.g. gear 1 to 2 to 3) is easy. Changing back down (gear 3 to 2 to 1) is really stiff and difficult. I found it difficult to use as an adult!

Is it possible to adjust this so that he can use the gears up and down easily?

Thanks for your help.

It will loosen up over time with use, however your best option is to go to you local Halfords store and ask them to replace the Gear Cable and Gear Housing on the bike. That should loosen it up moderately but will most likely require use before it is loosened fully.

My little boy has an 18inch inside leg, is this the right size?

The best option for you is to go down to your local Halfords store with your child and get him sized up correctly by one of the trained members of staff. This particular bike will not be available for sizing but very similar 12" and 14" bikes will be.
